Door Painting - From Stain to Paint

Door Painting - From Stain to Paint

Jcb Painting does a lot of stain-to-paint jobs.

Painting Interior Slider Doors: From Dark-Stained to Sleek White

Updating interior slider/deck doors from dark-stained wood to a clean white finish is a great way to modernize your space and brighten up a room. But it takes the right prep and process to get that flawless, durable look—especially on high-touch surfaces like doors and trim.

Step 1: Surface Prep

Start by removing any hardware or masking off areas you don’t want painted. Clean the doors thoroughly with a degreasing cleaner
—this step is especially important if the wood has been exposed to hands, pets, or cooking residue.

Once clean, scuff sand the entire surface using a medium-grit sanding sponge (like 150-180 grit). This helps break the sheen of the existing varnish or polyurethane and gives your primer something to grip.

Step 2: Prime Properly

Since you’re covering a dark, glossy surface, stain-blocking bonding primer is essential. An oil-based or shellac-based primer like Zinsser Cover Stain or BIN Shellac Primer will:

  • Block any tannin bleed from the wood
  • Bond to slick surfaces
  • Give your topcoat better durability
  • Let the primer cure fully, and do a light sand between coats if needed to smooth the surface.

Step 3: Apply a High-Performance Topcoat
For the final finish, go with a white semi-gloss or satin enamel that’s labeled for doors, trim, or cabinets. These paints are designed to resist scratches, fingerprints, and repeated cleaning.

My go to for semi-gloss these days is the Benjamin Moore HP-3410 line of Pre-Cat Waterborne Epoxy.

It's a straight semi-gloss, not a "paint and primer" product. Goes on smooth and has great leveling out properties which results in a clean look without the unslightly, BRUSH MARKS!

The after-results are always quite stunning.

Bedroom Painting - Taunton, MA.

Before painting in Taunton, Ma.

 Bedroom remodel in Taunton, MA!

We recently completed a beautiful bedroom transformation for a homeowner in Taunton, and the results speak for themselves. The client selected Behr’s "Frosted Jade" for the walls—a soft, refreshing shade of green that brings a calming, spa-like feel to the space. To enhance durability and add a subtle elegance, we paired the color with Benjamin Moore’s low sheen eggshell finish, which gives just the right amount of glow without being too shiny.

To complete the room, JCB Painting used a semi-gloss finish for the trim, adding crisp contrast and a clean, polished look that really makes the architectural details pop. The ceiling was painted in a classic flat white, keeping it simple and allowing the wall color to stand out beautifully.

The homeowner was absolutely thrilled with the transformation! It's always rewarding to see a space come to life with the right colors and finishes.

Attleboro Painters - Jcb Painting

Jcb Painting finished this bedroom with an accent wall in Attleboro, MA. using Benjamin Moore paint.

 Attleboro Painters – JCB Painting

We recently wrapped up a stylish bedroom project in Attleboro, MA, where we added a bold touch with a beautifully painted accent wall. The client wanted to introduce some personality and contrast into the space, and an accent wall was the perfect solution.

Using premium Benjamin Moore paint, we brought their vision to life with a color that not only complemented the room’s decor but also added depth and dimension to the overall design. The remaining walls were finished in a lighter, more neutral tone, allowing the accent color to truly stand out without overwhelming the space.

Accent walls are a simple yet powerful way to transform a room—and this one turned out fantastic. Another great project by JCB Painting, proudly serving the Attleboro area with clean lines, quality products, and attention to detail.

Bathroom Painting

Residential Bathroom Painting

Bathrooms present a couple of challenges that make them trickier to paint than other rooms in your house: Why?

Lots of fixtures and tight spaces: Unlike a living room with big, open walls, bathrooms are crammed with fixtures like toilets, sinks, and vanities. These things create tight spaces that are difficult to roll or brush around without getting paint on the fixtures themselves.

Moisture and ventilation: Bathrooms are naturally humid environments, and all that moisture can interfere with paint adhesion. You'll need to choose a special paint formulated for bathrooms that can withstand moisture and mildew growth.

More prep work: Because of the fixtures and tight spaces, painting a bathroom requires a lot more prep work. You'll likely need to remove some fixtures, meticulously mask around others, and thoroughly clean the walls to remove any soap scum or residue that might prevent the paint from sticking.

And this is what Jcb Painting does. We paint a lot of bathrooms!
