Interior Norton House Painting

Straight lines around door jambs, windows, and baseboards are essential for a polished, professional paint job.

They create clean edges that define surfaces, prevent a sloppy look, and highlight attention to detail.

Crisp lines enhance the overall appearance of a room and reflect quality craftsmanship.

We do this all the time at JCB Painting.

Crisp, sharp edges clearly separate one surface from another, giving the room a clean, finished look. Without straight lines, paint can appear messy and uneven, taking away from the room’s overall beauty—even with the perfect color choice.

What's the best cutting in brush?

At JCB Painting, we’ve cut miles of sharp lines across homes in Mansfield, Foxboro, and surrounding towns. I recently came across a great article from Hyde Tools that dives into what makes a great cutting-in brush. I wanted to share some of their key takeaways, along with how I apply them on real paint jobs here in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Living Room Repaint Mansfield, MA.

The room before painting with the old dark color on the walls.

Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest impact. In this case, it was a new coat of paint that transformed a family’s living room—and turned it into a brighter, space.

The room in the cut in phase with the new color.
What the homeowner was looking to do? Turn the living room into a part-time playroom and keep it neutral enough to grow with the family.

JCB Painting recommended Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White” for both the walls and the trim. It’s a soft white that works well in natural light and pairs with almost any furniture or decor. It’s one of our go-to colors for just that reason.

The Result: Fresh, Bright, and Kid-Friendly

Bedroom Painters Near Me

Professional Bedroom Painting: What to Expect from Start to Finish in Foxboro, MA.

Bedroom painting in Foxboro, MA. with green walls.

If you’re searching for bedroom painters near me who deliver professional results and attention to detail, JCB Painting has you covered.

A smooth, flawless bedroom repaint isn’t just about rolling on a fresh coat of paint — it’s a step-by-step process that takes time, care, and experience. Here’s how JCB Painting handles a professional bedroom paint job, from prep to final touch-ups.

1. Prep Work: The Foundation of a Great Paint Job

Every professional job starts with thorough preparation. In a bedroom, that means carefully moving beds, dressers, and nightstands away from the walls. Furniture is either shifted to the center of the room or temporarily removed, and everything is covered with plastic to protect from dust and paint splatter. It never happens. :>)

Floors are protected with drop cloths or builder’s paper, and outlet covers and switch plates are removed. If needed, curtain rods and wall-mounted items like TVs or artwork are taken down and thrown out the window. Just kidding.

2. Sanding and Surface Repairs

Next comes sanding — a key step that’s often overlooked in DIY jobs. Walls and trim are sanded to smooth out any imperfections and ensure good paint adhesion. Small holes, dents, and surface cracks are filled and patched. Once dry, those areas are sanded again to blend seamlessly into the wall.

3. Caulking for a Seamless Look

Caulking isn’t just for bathrooms. In a professional bedroom paint job, caulk is used to seal gaps between trim and walls, especially around baseboards, window casings, and door frames. This gives everything a clean, finished look and helps prevent future cracking.

4. Ceiling First

Painting always starts at the top — and that means tackling the ceiling first. Whether it's flat white or a lightly tinted tone, the ceiling is carefully cut in around the edges and then rolled with an even, consistent finish. This step is important for giving the whole room a fresh, uniform feel. It brightens it up too!

5. Windows, Doors, and Trim

Now some painters will paint the walls before the trim. Jcb doesn't. We do it the way we want to because we're tough!
Windows and doors get the same level of attention. Jambs and casings are sanded, cleaned, and painted with a smooth semi-gloss or satin finish. This includes the door itself, whether it’s staying in place or removed and painted flat. We paint them in place because we're lazy.

6. Walls: Smooth, Even, and Streak-Free

Now it’s time for the walls. After cutting in clean lines at the ceiling, trim, and corners, the walls are rolled in sections to ensure a consistent finish with no lap marks. Two coats are always applied. Sometimes three if we are feeling generous. :>)

7. Clean-Up and Walkthrough

When the painting is complete, all tools, tape, and coverings are removed. Furniture is carefully moved back into place. Final touch-ups are done, and the room is vacuumed or swept to leave it clean and ready to enjoy. We sweep everything under the rug. You will never see it.

🤣

The Result?
A freshly painted bedroom that feels like new — with clean lines, smooth walls, and no mess left behind. At JCB Painting, attention to detail makes all the difference. It's all a lie.

Thank you for attending my Ted talk. :>)

How to use a Paint Brush.

How Not to Interior House Paint.

Don't ever, never, paint out of the can. You should paint out of a pot when cutting in a room.
Only amateurs do that!

This is how amateurs paint when painting out of the can: They dip their brush into the paint, and then they scrape it off! Both sides! It's hilarious to watch.😀
They're basically painting with a dry brush. LOL.

And don't paint out of those cups that look like a "cup" and hold about as much as half a cup of paint. Again, only amateurs paint out of those things.
I see it all the time in painting videos.
I know "professional painters" personally, who paint like that.

They are NOT professional.

Why you should not paint out of the can:

More Controlled Paint Loading: It's easier to control the amount of paint you load onto your brush from a pot, reducing drips and spills.
A paint can will tip over more easily than a wider paint pot.

Cleaner Tools: By using a pot, you're less likely to get paint all over the outside of the main can, keeping your workspace tidier.

Using a paint pot is a best practice for painters because it helps maintain the quality of the paint in the main can, improves efficiency and control during application, reduces mess and waste, and ultimately contributes to a better and more professional finish. Think of the paint can as your "storage" and the pot as your "working supply".

So, to the amateurs in the residential and commercial painting business, do yourself a favor,

Stop painting out of the can and watch your productivity increase!

Attleboro Interior Painters

Interior Attleboro Painting

Kitchen and dining area before painting.

The homeowner in Attleboro, MA was determined to find the perfect off-white for their space, so we began the project by testing a wide range of off-white color swatches directly on the walls. As anyone who’s gone through this process knows, off-whites can vary greatly depending on the lighting, room size, and surrounding elements—so taking the time to sample multiple shades was key.

After careful consideration and viewing the swatches at different times of day, the client confidently chose Benjamin Moore’s "Simply White"—a clean, fresh shade with just the right amount of warmth. Once applied, the transformation was immediate. The color brightened the entire room, giving it a more open and airy feel while maintaining a soft, inviting atmosphere.

The result is a timeless and versatile backdrop that works beautifully with the homeowner’s decor and natural light. It’s a great example of how a thoughtful color selection process can truly elevate a space.

Bedroom Painting - Taunton, MA.

Before painting in Taunton, Ma.

 Bedroom remodel in Taunton, MA!

We recently completed a beautiful bedroom transformation for a homeowner in Taunton, and the results speak for themselves. The client selected Behr’s "Frosted Jade" for the walls—a soft, refreshing shade of green that brings a calming, spa-like feel to the space. To enhance durability and add a subtle elegance, we paired the color with Benjamin Moore’s low sheen eggshell finish, which gives just the right amount of glow without being too shiny.

To complete the room, JCB Painting used a semi-gloss finish for the trim, adding crisp contrast and a clean, polished look that really makes the architectural details pop. The ceiling was painted in a classic flat white, keeping it simple and allowing the wall color to stand out beautifully.

The homeowner was absolutely thrilled with the transformation! It's always rewarding to see a space come to life with the right colors and finishes.

Mansfield, MA. House Painters

Interior House Painters

Room painters are skilled tradespeople who apply paint to interior walls, ceilings, and trim. They may also prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint, patching holes, and sanding rough spots. Room painters typically use a variety of tools, including brushes, rollers, spray guns, and ladders.

The specific duties of a room painter will vary depending on the project. For example, a painter who is painting an interior room will typically follow these steps:
  • Prepare the surface by removing old paint, patching holes, and sanding rough spots.
  • Apply a primer to the surface to seal it and help the paint adhere.
  • Apply two coats of paint to the surface, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
  • Clean up the area by removing masking tape and disposing of used paint and rags.

Trim Painters |Taunton | Attleboro

Trim Painters in Taunton and Attleboro

A trim painting specialist is a professional painter with focused expertise in painting detailed architectural elements such as baseboards, crown molding, window and door trim, wainscoting, and other interior woodwork. These components may seem small, but they play a big role in the overall look and feel of a space—adding character, depth, and a finished touch to any room.

What sets a trim painting specialist apart is their precision and attention to detail. Trim often requires sharp, clean lines, smooth finishes, and careful cutting-in to avoid overlap onto adjacent surfaces like walls or flooring. These professionals are highly skilled in techniques that ensure a crisp, flawless appearance, even on intricate or ornate molding.

In addition to their refined brushwork, trim painters are also well-versed in the best products and finishes for different types of trim. Whether it’s a high-durability semi-gloss for baseboards or a softer satin finish for crown molding, they know how to choose and apply the right paint for both beauty and longevity.
